Breakfast and brunch on Sukhumvit: a garden morning on Soi 20
Most Bangkok breakfasts happen in a mall or a hotel buffet line. A garden table under the trees, ten minutes after stepping off the BTS, is a different way to start the day. The Deck serves breakfast and brunch from 7:30am to 2pm every day, and this is how to do it properly.
The morning shift
The garden is at its quietest before 10am: shade, birdsong and the first flat whites of the day. If you want a table under the trees with a laptop or a newspaper, this is the window. From late morning the brunch crowd arrives and the pace picks up.
What to order
The breakfast menu runs from the classics to the local. Eggs any way you like them, three-egg omelettes, benedicts and pancakes on the western side; rice soup and other Thai breakfast dishes if you want to eat like the neighbourhood. The early bird set at ฿160++ is the quiet bargain of the menu.
Yes, happy hour is on at breakfast
Happy hour starts at 8am, which surprises people. A ฿149 glass of wine with eggs benedict on a Saturday, or a ฿99 beer with a late fry-up, is entirely within the rules. No one will judge you. This is a garden bar, after all.
Weekends: brunch becomes an occasion
On Saturday and Sunday the weekend free flow runs 11am to 4pm from ฿699++, so a long brunch can roll straight into the afternoon. Sunday mornings add the Kids Club from 11 to 2, with a dedicated kids menu at ฿180++ while the adults take their time.
